Our Team

Chris W. Gilbert, DVM
Chris W. Gilbert, DVM

Owner & Veterinarian

Dr. Gilbert is a 1982 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he returned to his hometown of Greenville, Ohio and started a mixed animal practice, Darke County Veterinary Service, LLC. Dr. Gilbert splits his time between small animals and equine. He is known for his extensive experience with equine lameness issues, especially those found in performance and race horses. An interest in alternative medicine led Dr. Gilbert to study acupuncture in 1984.

Personal Note:

In his free time, Dr. Gilbert enjoys spending time with his family and raising and showing beef cattle and standardbred horses.

Darcy Loshe
Darcy Loshe

Registered Veterinary Technician

Darcy joined the DCVS team in April 2015 after graduating from International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology.

Born and raised in St. Henry, Ohio, she continues to call it home, where she lives with her husband and four children. She also shares her home with two dogs and two cats.

Darcy enjoys many aspects of veterinary practice, with a special passion for surgery, dental procedures, and laboratory work. With her bubbly personality, she thrives in client education and loves helping pet owners better understand and care for their animals.

Personal Note:

In her spare time, Darcy enjoys spending time with family and friends and participating in outdoor activities.

Jennifer Davis
Jennifer Davis

Equine Veterinary Technician

Jennifer joined the DCVS team in December 2020. Born and raised in Massachusetts, she relocated to Ohio in the fall of 2020.

A lifelong animal lover, Jennifer has had a passion for horses from a very young age. That passion led her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Equine Science and Management in 2008, building a strong foundation in animal care and management. Prior to moving to Ohio, she worked for an equine veterinarian, further expanding her hands-on experience and knowledge in equine medicine. She brings that valuable background and experience to the DCVS team.

Personal Note:

In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and their animals, including two dogs, cats, and Standardbred horses. She especially enjoys attending harness races whenever she has the opportunity.


Paytyn Hiestand
Paytyn Hiestand

Veterinary Assistant

Paytyn joined the DCVS team in December 2024. She is currently enrolled in online Veterinary Technician classes through Penn Foster as she continues to further her education in the field.

Paytyn is conscientious and diligent, always eager to learn and grow within the practice. She especially enjoys assisting with surgery and expanding her knowledge through hands-on experience.

Personal Note:

In her free time, Paytyn enjoys spending time with her riding horse, Bob. She loves taking him to ropings and barrel races whenever she has the opportunity.


Shelbie Jacobs
Shelbie Jacobs

Veterinary Assistant

Shelbie joined the DCVS team in the summer of 2025. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program at Sinclair Community College and plans to graduate in 2027.

Shelbie enjoys that each day in veterinary medicine is different and appreciates the variety that appointment hours bring. She is dedicated to furthering her education and gaining hands-on experience in the field as she works toward her career as a veterinary technician.

Personal Note:

Shelbie has two cats, Nala and Pepper, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
