Lameness Evaluations
Sports Medicine is a focus at Darke County Veterinary Service, LLC. Lameness evaluations and diagnostic procedures help to keep horses at the top of their performance.
Wellness Examinations
This includes a through physical examination and we work to develop a vaccination and de-worming protocol to help keep your horse in top condition.
Pre-Purchase Examinations
The goal of a Pre-Purchase exam is to provide the buyer with as much information as possible about the horse so they are able to make an informed decision about their purchase. These exams include a through physical and lameness exam, and can also include x-rays, endoscopy, cbc and chemistry panels and various other diagnostic tools.
K – Laser Therapy
K – Laser Therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to create therapeutic effects. It can be used in the treatment of joint pain, ligament sprains, muscle strains, chronic wounds and a variety of other conditions.
Digital Radiographs
Our onsite and portable digital x-ray equipment provides the highest quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders in a matter of minutes in the office and in the field.
Acupuncture
The traditional form of Chinese Medicine is combined with conventional Veterinary Medicine, most often as a diagnostic tool. It can also be used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions.
Cyrotherapy
This is also known as “freezing” and uses liquid nitrogen to freeze superficial to deep soft tissues to bony structures without causing damage to the surrounding tissues. This is often used for curbs, splints and torn suspensories.
In house Laboratory
Our in house lab provides for complete blood counts, blood chemistry analysis, parasite testing, urinalysis and fecal examinations. We also send out lab work for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Shockwave Therapy
This treatment is used to minimize pain and helps promote healing in various ligament, tendon, and joint injuries.
Video Endoscopy
Video Endoscopy is used to visualize and treat issues of the upper respiratory tract as well as allowing us to view the stomach and upper gastrointestinal tract on a screen within the office.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
This treatment takes whole blood and isolates platelets and combines them with growth factors tom make Platelet-Rich Plasma. When applied to an injury Platelet-Rich Plasma accelerates tissue regeneration and healing.
Interleukin- 1 Receptor Antagonist Protein (IRAP)
IRAP therapy utilizes the patient’s own blood and natural therapeutic mechanisms. The IRAP syringes contain glass beads that stimulate the white blood cells to produce the anti-inflammatory and regenerative cytokines. The whole blood is incubated and then centrifuged to collect serum. The serum collected is then re-injected into the patient.
Ultrasound
This allows us to examine soft tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and reproductive organs both in the office and in the field.
